Job Duties

The College of Science & Engineering at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is seeking applications for two Assistant Professor of Geospatial Systems Engineering positions in the Department of Computing Sciences. The positions will support programs offering the BS in Geographic Information Science, MS in Geospatial Systems Engineering and Ph.D. in Geospatial Computing Sciences. The appointment can start as early as Spring 2018. The basic job requirements include (1) teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses, (2) establishing and directing an active and externally funded research program, (3) publishing research results in archival journals with high impacts, (4) advising and recruiting Geospatial Computing Sciences Ph.D. students and Geospatial Surveying Engineering M.S. students, and (5) representing the department in national and international functions.

The College of Science & Engineering Geographic Information Science undergraduate degree program is accredited by ABET, Inc. Qualifications

Applicants must have a
1. Doctoral degree in Geospatial Science, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field
2. Strong commitment to scholarly research and teaching excellence.
3. Strong research background with previous professional activities related to GSEN with collaborative research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in an ABET accredited geomatics undergraduate program and experience in recruiting undergraduate students into the geospatial sciences would be advantageous.

Expertise in the following areas:
1) Cartography, spatial modeling, and have a strong background in programming with a special emphasis on merging of visualization and GIS software.
2) Geographic data mining, machine learning, and knowledge discovery.
3) Web-based GIS, cloud computing, and mobile computing.
4) Ubiquitous positioning, autonomous navigation, mobile sensing, and geoinformatics.
5) Geodetic science and surveying engineering, with expertise in areas such as satellite geodesy, gravimetry, hydrography, spatial reference systems and networks.
